Amononi Hemaa, All Nations, Gomoa Fetteh, Delivers Award to Kofi Annan Foundation2

Nana Aba Mbiriwa, I, Amononi Hemaa for Gomoa Fetteh Stool Land located in Central Region of Ghana, West Africa presents posthumous award to Mr. Kofi Atta Annan at his foundation located in Geneva, Switzerland. The award was from the Fettehman High School located in Gomoa Fetteh. During the Amononi’s trip to Fetteh in August 2023 with her husband, Nana Kweku Bwedu, she accepted the award on behalf of the late and Honorable, Mr. Kofi Annan who is most known as a Ghanaian diplomat who served as the seventh secretary-general of the United Nations from 1997 to 2006. Annan and the UN were the co-recipients of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize. He has also received numerous honorary degrees and many other national and international prizes, medals and honors. Annan’s work and contribution to education was noted by Fettehman High School’s Headmistress, Mrs. Stella Mawutor Kwame, who presented the award to the Amononi Hemaa after her tour of the school’s compound. Mr. Annan, born in Kumasi, Ghana on August 8, 1938, died on 18 August 2018 in Bern, Switzerland, at the age of 80.

On this beautiful occasion of your school, Fettehman Senior High School’s 10th anniversary, the Board of Governors, and Management, in sincere appreciation of your dedication to education, honor you with this citation to symbolize our gratitude towards your decision and pro-activeness for leading for the establishment of the school. Busumuru, your rich ideas and love for your country Ghana benefited Gomoa in the establishment of Fettehman SHS in 2013. As a legend with education at heart, we have always been guided by one of your famous quotes “Education is, quite simply, peace-building by another name. It is the most effective form of defense spending there is.” Truly, you demonstrated your love for education to us, which we deeply appreciate and admire. 

On this day of your School’s 10th anniversary, we say a big thank you for your contribution. We know you are always with us, and you have been named after one of the houses in the school, Kofi Annan Housel You will continue to remain in our hearts forever. Thank you very Much and God Bless You.
